What Is Quarterly Amortization Schedule?
The quarterly amortization schedule is an amortization schedule that assumes the regular payment is done quarterly for repaying a loan. The amortization schedule shows the principal paid, interest paid, and remaining balance after each payment over the loan terms. From this schedule, the borrower can easily track and visualize his loan repayment process.

- Loan Amount
- Annual Percentage Rate
- First Payment Date
- Payment Type
- Interest Compounding Frequency
- You will get your required quarterly payment amount and an automated amortization table along with a summary chart.
- You will find an output summary containing the following outputs
- Interest Rate (Per Period)
- Total Amount to be Paid
- Total Interest to be Paid
- Total No. of Payments
- Time Saved

Excel Quarterly Amortization Schedule with Extra Payments (Regular/Irregular) Template
If the borrower earns some extra money during loan repayment, s/he might want to make some extra payments to repay the loan quicker and pay lesser interest. In this template, you would be able to insert these inputs too and get the following outputs along with an updated amortization schedule.
How to Use This Template
Go through the instructions below to use this template properly.
Instructions:
- Go to the Payoff Calc. (Extra Payments) sheet and insert all the required inputs in the blue shaded area of the Input Values column according to the loan parameters.
- After inserting inputs, you will get the required quarterly payment amount. You have to insert extra irregular payments manually in the Extra Payments (Irregular) column.
- You will get your automated amortization schedule with extra payments and an output summary containing all important outputs such as estimated interest savings and time saved.
- You will also get a summary chart containing the principal paid, interest paid, and balance trend over the loan tenure.

Excel Quarterly Amortization Schedule Template Tips
- Hover your mouse on the loan parameters and you will find added notes there. Follow the notes to insert proper inputs and choose proper dropdowns.
- When choosing interest compounding frequency, choose it as equal to or greater frequency than quarterly payment frequency.
- When choosing extra payment frequency, choose it as a multiple of your regular quarterly payment frequency. So, you can choose quarterly, semi-annually, and yearly in this case.
